Rheannon Rua

I became cycling obsessed when I started working as a bike messenger at age 19. After (too many) years on the road bike and a career change, my boyfriend (now husband) convinced me to buy a mountain bike. I loved it. However, it took at least a year for me to consider myself a mountain biker. For some reason that title seemed reserved for only elite riders. Eventually I got over that and started to gain confidence in my skills. I helped start a local Women’s MTB club, started guiding rides and doing a few races. I realized that the mountain bike is an amazing tool to push myself outside of my comfort zone and work on self-improvement. It also made me obsessed with goal setting! I love slow social rides that involve cupcakes, misery quests, working on technical skills, and racing. I have two wonderful trail dogs and a husband that love to ride with me. My goals for this season are to get comfortable with failing, find more mindfulness in my life, share my passion and to have as much fun as possible. When I am not on the bike or my yoga mat, I can be found geeking out on fungi as I make progress towards my PhD.
